Book Thought Thursdays By Me #2

So ready for this! Time to take a look at the next great book, in my opinion, Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henke.

Not only was he the Author of choice in our household growing up, but my mom was kind enough to get me a name where some other little girl felt like she had a long hard to write name. It did work. I did feel better!

What is the great lesson for young people in this one? Love who you are despite all the things you hear!

She struggles because her name can barely fit on a name tag and she is named after a flower, but ultimately, it really doesn't matter and she finds pride in something that makes her unique! We are all unique and somethings, young people think that makes them a lone island, the only one who feels different.

Help you young reader embrace their individuality and read this book with them! One of my all time favorites! Thanks Kevin! I like to think we're on a first name basis at this point!
